In the treatment of epilepsy, gabapentin is used to help control partial seizures (convulsions). This medication will not cure epilepsy; instead, it will only serve to manage seizures for as long as you take it. Gabapentin (gabantin 300mg) is also used to treat postherpetic neuralgia, a painful illness that arises after shingles. Gabapentin (gabantin 100mg) is a drug that acts in the brain to prevent seizures and treat pain in people who have certain nervous system problems. It is not prescribed for everyday pain such as that produced by minor injuries or arthritis. Gabapentin is a seizure medication.
